The Devils Punchbowl is near Thetford and the other Breckland Meres. It is also close to Grimes Graves and the Merton Stone.

Fowl Mere, surrounding swallow holes or mini craters?
Is Fowl Mere beside the Devil's Punchbowl another of the strange shaped Breckland Meres or is it a more natural or man made lake? Fowl Mere does appear to be a natural lake or Mere but why is it not oval shaped like the others or is it a variation of the form?

Why is there such a delay and non conformity between the amount of rain and the fluctuating water levels of the Meres in Breckland? Are Thetfords and Norfolks Meres totally dependent on the rain or is it something else?
Is water formed inside the earth and on the surface? Is this how White and Black Smokers on the oceans floors have water to push out into the ocean? Why you can have an Oasis in the desert? Why in Norfolk streams and wells are found to come out at the top of the high grounds and the fact that Norfolk had so many Water Mills?
